Naval Command Centre in Yeosu
For a long period of time in 16 and 17th centuries Yeosu harbour was a base of Korean fleet that protected peninsula from Japanese invasions. One of the most famous heroes of that period is admiral Yi Sun-shin (이순신).
He was a Korean naval commander, famed for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Imjin war in the Joseon Dynasty, and is well-respected for his exemplary conduct on and off the battlefield not only by Koreans, but by Japanese Admirals as well.
Reconstructed Naval Command centre of that time (Ji Nam Gwan) with museum can be found in Yeosu.
